She earned her PhD in Physics from the University of Palermo in 2023, with a thesis titled\u00a0<em>\u201cThe Mass Challenge for Exoplanetary Science in Active Stars.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 2019, she has been an active member of the GAPS project.\u00a0Her primary research focuses on studying and characterizing stellar activity to enhance the detection and analysis of new exoplanet candidates. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"452\" height=\"516\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gaps.inaf.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/claudia-di-maio.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-120\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gaps.inaf.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/claudia-di-maio.png 452w, https:\/\/www.gaps.inaf.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/claudia-di-maio-263x300.png 263w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 452px) 100vw, 452px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Claudia Di Maio &#8211; INAF OAPA<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>More recently, she has been involved in the detection and characterization of exoplanets using the radial velocity technique.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Within GAPS, she co-manages the&nbsp;<em>ArMS<\/em>&nbsp;large program at the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG), which is dedicated to determining the masses of planets within the radius valley in the Ariel Candidates Reference Sample.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Claudia is also a contributor to the ESA Ariel mission, working within the Stellar Activity and Planetary Mass Measurements working groups.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Claudia Di Maio is a fixed-term researcher at INAF \u2013 Astronomical Observatory of Palermo.
