She graduated in Astrophysics from the University of Catania and obtained her PhD in Astronomy from the University of Padova.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her main research topic is the characterization of exoplanetary atmospheres through high-resolution optical transmission spectroscopy. In addition to the scientific research, she is widely involved in outreach activities. In particular, she is presently working in the maintenance and editing of the website and social media of her institute.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"452\" height=\"539\" src=\"http:\/\/www.gaps.inaf.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/daniela-sicilia.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-164\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gaps.inaf.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/daniela-sicilia.png 452w, https:\/\/www.gaps.inaf.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/daniela-sicilia-252x300.png 252w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 452px) 100vw, 452px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Daniela Sicilia \u2013 INAF OACT<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>She is part of the observational program GAPS (Global Architecture of Planetary Systems) within which her work is focused on the extraction of transmission spectra of exoplanetary atmospheres and analysis of atomic lines in the visible.<br>She is also involved in the CHEOPS and PLATO space missions both for the project management and outreach dissemination for the Italian side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From February 2023 she is a member of the GAPS Science Team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Daniela Sicilia is a fixed-term researcher at INAF \u2013 Osservatorio Astrofisico di Catania.
